About Tara
I'm Tara Murphy, a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation (LPC-MHSP) practicing in Tennessee. My practice is intentionally small — because I believe therapy works best when you feel truly known, not processed.
I work with adults who are carrying more than they'd like — who are anxious, grieving, stuck, or simply unsure of who they're becoming. You don't need a crisis to deserve support. Sometimes the most important work happens in the quieter aches of everyday life.
My approach is warm and collaborative. We'll move at a pace that respects where you are, building insight and practical tools together along the way.

Areas of Focus
Anxiety
Worry, overthinking, panic, and the constant hum of unease — we'll work to quiet the noise and build steadiness.
Depression
Low mood, disconnection, and the weight of feeling flat — finding pathways back to energy and meaning.
Grief & Loss
The loss of a person, a relationship, an identity — grief is not linear, and you don't have to carry it alone.
Relationship Concerns
Patterns in relationships, communication struggles, boundary-setting, and understanding your relational world.
Life Transitions
Career changes, moves, endings, and new beginnings — navigating who you are becoming through change.
Self-Worth & Identity
Understanding who you are, healing self-criticism, and building a kinder, more grounded relationship with yourself.
My Approach
I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps us identify and gently challenge the thought patterns and behaviors that keep us stuck. But therapy is never one-size-fits-all.
Every person brings their own history, culture, and way of making sense of the world. I work to meet you there — curious, non-judgmental, and committed to your growth at your own pace.
